On my dualsense, everything is perfectly smooth, including using steam input to set it's gyro up. There is jitter on both gyro and trackpad, by jitter I mean something like screen tearing whenever I move my camera with steam controller making it look like my fps is really low, while it isn't and on my mouse it is perfectly smooth. I experience jitter in every game, no exclusions, as well as smoothing does not help at all. I haven't measured it yet but it feels like every 60 frames of input, the mouse input is dropped for a few frames, then picks up again.īasically the problem and behavior is exactly the same regardless I'm doing, which is how I know it's an emulation problem with Steam Input rather than anything with the games themselves. ![]() If it's controlling a game camera, the camera will jump and skip. If it's emulating the mouse cursor, the cursor will "jump" over big gaps of input. It also happens if I'm just controlling the basic Windows mouse cursor on the desktop. No matter what game I'm using or what function the emulated mouse is performing, that same skip/stutter is there. Can you try (assuming you are using your DS4 as main controller when you play) some other games in my list and check if you are having the same consistent results with your controller and mouse input? I tried very shortly the mouse input with the analog stick of a DS4 in Solus Project (a game that has the problem I am mentioning with the steam controller as well). I'm using Windows 7 and the main Steam branch. It's actually much worse than in the video posted in the linked discussion thread - the camera will skip what feels like 4 or 5 frames of input out of every 60. Using the DS4 analog sticks to emulate mouse input is very unstable. Originally posted by ThreeSon:In addition to the gyroscope and touchpad, add the analog sticks. It should behave the same way in every game but some games are smooth (playable) some others aren't. The gyroscope should move the view as smoothly as with the mouse even when using 'mouselook' input method. Mouse joystick and joystick look work fine and smooth, mouse input doesn't. Situation is still the same after countless updates of steam and steam controller firmware. Nobody ever gave a response nor was the matter investigated. I also contacted steam support and suggested I update the thread below. ![]() Some games are completely smooth some others aren't.Įverything possible I could think of has been already tried. It's like there is jitter (link below with every kind of detail) Gyroscope and touchpad are not as smooth as the mouse peripheral when using the 'mouselook' setting in the steam controller control profile.
